Client: Ramus / JLL
Location: Melbourne, VIC, Australia
Year: 2020

While the foremost challenge was always going to be accurately mapping content onto the 38-floor facade's 1,277 fixtures, the global pandemic and lockdown added unanticipated layers of complexity.

The number of fixtures spread across the building facade resulted in an extremely large yet sparse content canvas. We chose to articulate the faceted facade, creating content modes that could restrict output to sub-sets of fixtures - horizontal, vertical, diagonal. CORE's compositing and remapping tools were also leveraged to create a virtual reflection, projecting content virtually into the street then reflecting it back onto the facade geometry, resulting in rich and intuitive optics.

Although we were able to travel to commission CORE, the lockdown happened before content commissioning could be completed. The Ramus team were able to work within the building itself and across the street in a shared workspace, while we got to work minimising friction for those working remotely. With a remote-controlled camera and the ability to stream content previews onto the facade, we created a remarkable work environment that almost felt like everyone was in the same room.
